Google Analytics

When someone visits we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Bookings, Waitlists and Mailing Lists

As part of the booking enquiry process, we collect personal information such as your name, your email address and telephone number.
We pass that information on to a third party: the Skellig boat operator you wish to send the enquiry to. Your information is essential to them being able to contact you in relation to a potential booking. Their details are outlined in page:

We retain a copy of your enquiry for the purposes of auditing successful transmission of enquiries and for aggregate trend analysis of visitor demand.

We may contact you at some future point, if you have consented to being contacted for the purposes of:

  • Letting you know that seats have become available for the date you expressed an interest in.
  • Certain important Skellig-related news or alerts that may impact your visit to the island such as a delayed season opening date, changes to procedures or booking protocols, etc.
  • Certain trip-related hints, tips or local offers that may be of interest to you during your visit to the island or the surrounding area.

To provide this functionality we may use a third-party provider, such as MailChimp or Constant Contact, to deliver these emails. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing our data protection officer Vincent O’ Keeffe.

We may share anonymised personal information with other organisations, such as Failte Ireland or Discover Ireland, who promote Irish Tourism at home and abroad, or relevant government departments in order to facilitate planning and funding for Skellig Michael and the Skellig Coast. We may also publish these findings on our site and share them with interested News Media.
